God’s Not Dead
“God’s not dead, He’s surely alive!” From the Newsboys hit song sprung one of the top indie films of this year.
“God’s Not Dead,” from Pure Flix Entertainment, deals with the philosophical debate of God’s existence, championed by Christian college student Josh Wheaton, who must convince his philosophy professor, Jeffrey Raddison (played by actor Kevin Sorbo), and the rest of the students of his class.
David A.R. White, co-founder of Pure Flix Entertainment, spoke to Beliefnet about the surge of faith films and their significance in today’s culture.
“These films are about redemption, forgiveness, hope, and inspiration,” David explains. “Hopefully we leave people inspired by their faith, and encouraged in their faith. Critics can say that they’re similar (with themes), but it’s been an exciting time to see this genre open up and become a marketable genre.”
