A legendary magazine entrepreneur, Harris turned Psychology Today from a wobbly startup into a publication widely recognized as the lifestyle magazine of the '70s, as circulation rose from 150,000 to 1,100,000 in eight years. Later he launched American Health, which became the Bible of the health movement of the '80s. Both magazines won National Magazine Awards for General Excellence, making him the first editor so honored for work on two different magazines. Subsequently, he edited the Harvard Business Review. He currently consults with Procter & Gamble on media strategy. He also served as a Washington correspondent for Time and as Time-Life-Fortune bureau chief in Atlanta, Chicago, and San Francisco. He is also the recipient of the Magazine Professional of the Year Award for 2000 from the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communications.
