Happy 4th of July Everyone! <\/p>\n
As you celebrate our Independence Day, I
\nask you to take a minute to reflect upon what our Forefathers meant
\nwhen they wrote “The Declaration of Independence.” Their words are deeply
\nprofound and worth remembering today:<\/p>\n
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created
\nequal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable
\nrights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of
\nhappiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted
\namong men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.
\nThat whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends,
\nit is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to
\ninstitute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and
\norganizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely
\nto effect their safety and happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate
\nthat governments long established should not be changed for light and
\ntransient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shown that
\nmankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than
\nto right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are
\naccustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing
\ninvariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under
\nabsolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off
\nsuch government, and to provide new guards for their future security.
\nSuch has been the patient sufferance of these colonies; and such is now
\nthe necessity which constrains them to alter their former systems of
\ngovernment. The history of the present King of Great Britain is a
\nhistory of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct
\nobject the establishment of an absolute tyranny over these states. To
\nprove this, let facts be submitted to a candid world.” <\/p>\n
These are the words which our entire way of life is based upon. And
\nnow, more than ever, it is good to remember that our Founding Fathers
\nfought first and foremost for freedom and for our right to pursue our
\nindividual happiness purposefully, and without constraint. <\/p>\n
Those who came before us fought hard for our liberation and now, we owe
\nit to them to live our lives as freely and purposefully as possible. If
\nthey could do it without financial security or a retirement plan, so
\ntoo, can we. They had what they needed most: Freedom. And you can take
\neverything from a person, but if they still possess a fundamental right to freedom, they can rebuild and begin again. This too, is our call. May
\nwe all rise to the spirit from whence we came and heed the call.<\/p>\n
