Since we will all be personally and financially impacted by whatever comes to pass relative to  Health Care Reform, I thought I’d attempt to offer some guidance around the various (and often complex) proposals that are being promoted on Capitol Hill.<\/p>\n

I don’t know about you, but my family of three pays a whopping $1400 per month for health insurance and that doesn’t even include co-pays, deductibles or prescriptions. And we’re pretty healthy! While this is an enormous<\/i> cost for what we receive,  we simply can’t afford not<\/i> have it without taking an even larger risk financially, especially as we get older. Right? But it’s way too much<\/i> and I know we’re not alone in this. Most everyone we know is either in the same boat or have no insurance at all, which can be scary.<\/p>\n

Clearly, we need a new system…and soon. Something has to be done because the current system is not only broken…it’s breaking people financially. According to the National Coalition for Health Care, over 46 million Americans are without health insurance. And since the recession. another 6 million people have lost their coverage do to job loss. The number one cause of this problem is cos<\/i>t. People simply cannot afford to keep their coverage.<\/p>\n

What happened to our fundamental right of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?
Have we not become so enslaved by the high cost of living, which increases daily until there is so little left of our time and resources to pursue a little happiness?  How free can a people be without this basic and fundamental protection for the health and well-being of our families?  I wonder about these things alot lately.<\/p>\n

Over the course of the next couple of weeks, I will be providing an overview of the main
proposals for you to think about. In the meantime, you might want to look over the various proposals yourself on the Healthcare Reform website<\/a> or this side-by-side comparison provided by the Kaiser Foundation<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Let us all pray for a quick and positive outcome that serves the highest good for all Americans.<\/p>\n
