One of the qualities that sets humans
\napart from other species is our ability to remember the past and make
\nfuture decisions based upon our experiences. Humans are naturally
\nplanners and builders, drawing from our personal and collective
\nknowledge.<\/p>\n
\n<\/p>\n
This capacity to remember the past
\ndoesn’t always serve us, however. We can continue to suffer from
\ntraumas and losses long after the original events have passed. <\/p>\n
\n<\/p>\n
Because we draw so many of our present
\nand future conclusions based upon the past, we can inadvertently
\nbecome drawn into to believing that we are our past selves. This is,
\nof course, not true. You are not presently the “you” that existed
\nwhen you were five years old.<\/p>\n
You are not even the same “you” that you were a year ago. \n<\/p>\n
\n<\/p>\n
With respect to money, being stuck in
\nthe past can prevent you from being able to adapt and experience your life and potential that exists now. In every economic climate there are always
\nchallenges and <\/i>opportunities. If you only see yourself in relationship to your past, and as the mistakes and missteps, you may
\nmiss out on real opportunities to improve your life and circumstances now. Your are not the sum total of your past…the past is history. Be done with it.<\/p>\n
\n<\/p>\n
Try this exercise: Imagine yourself to
\nbe a completely new person right now. You have stepped into the shoes
\nof your former self, with all of the resources and responsibilities.
\nBut, you are not that person that you were a moment ago. Look around
\nyourself. Free from the burdens of past concepts and self-images,
\nwhat possibilities could you imagine for yourself? What would you
\nchoose to do if you were renewed in this moment?<\/p>\n
\n<\/p>\n
Dear God,<\/p>\n
You renew the world and all of your
\ncreation in every moment<\/p>\n
Breathing life into all of us in each
\ninstant of time;<\/p>\n
Help me to know that with every breath
\nI am a new person<\/p>\n
That I am reborn with the freedom to
\nmake a new choice,<\/p>\n
A new beginning,<\/p>\n
A new decision,<\/p>\n
RIGHT NOW.<\/p>\n
And so it is.<\/p>\n
Amen.<\/p>\n
