When I speak of my faithful\u00a0\u00a0companion and her lovable antics, the first thing always asked is, \u00a0“Is\u00a0she\u00a0\u00a0a cat or dog?’\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0” Neither” is always my response, “It’s a small ferret<\/a>.”\u00a0 Over the years this has prompted interesting questions, confusion, and curiosity<\/em> from \u00a0the other animal lovers out there.<\/p>\n

\"Ferret,<\/a><\/p>\n

My ferret, known as “Nico”<\/strong> became part of my family<\/a>\u00a0almost seven years ago.\u00a0The first years \u00a0as a new ferret owner, were full of surprises, laughter, and wonderful chaos.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Ferret,<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

In those days, \u00a0she was always on a mission, climbing in the closet, stealing doughnuts, going wherever I went, my faithful companion<\/a>.\u00a0I learned very quickly that \u00a0everything must be locked, zipped<\/strong>, or it was no longer mine.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Many years and two surgeries later\u00a0she is content to sleep most of the hours away, tucked under a fleece blanket\u00a0\u00a0with\u00a0her\u00a0\u00a0fan softly blowing in the corner. Caring for an elderly pet<\/a> is a lesson in patience, serenity, and love<\/strong>.<\/a>
