Whether it’s waiting for a new job to come your way, waiting for the right friend to come into your life. Or waiting for the right person to come into your life, waiting for the birth of a child, waiting for an adoption process to take place.

In times of waiting in our lives, we can find comfort in waiting on God and His promises. He promises us that He is always with us through any waiting period. Waiting on God requires a lot of patience and understanding that everything will happen in His way, and in His time, not ours.

It also requires us to exhibit complete trust in His plans for our lives. God gives us periods of waiting to see how we react to them. We can react to them in different ways, such as disbelief and anger that He would make us wait on anything. We as a society have the problem and a hard challenge of always wanting instant gratification. We want anything and everything to happen now, with ease, or at least in the time we want. People often forget that we aren’t the ones in control of what happens in life, God is.

It can bring peace when we wait on God and remember that He has predestined the waiting period for each of our lives according to His good and gracious will. God may be giving you time to wait to see whether you turn towards Him or away from Him. He may give you a waiting period to strengthen your faith. Even in our seasons of waiting, we can always find peace through praying that He gives us the willpower to continue to stay strong.

When a storm arises in life, the first thing people often do is ask God why a particular event happened to them. Then they get bitter towards Him when He doesn’t resolve the conflict right away. In Mark 4:35-40, it says: “35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down, and it was completely calm.”40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” 41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”

We may say, “He calmed the storm for the disciples, so why can’t He do that automatically whenever something bad happens to me?” It can be tough to wait on God especially if we feel He isn’t listening or that He doesn’t care. Remember if Jesus can calm the storm on the lake in front of the disciples within seconds, He can undoubtedly calm any storm in your life, no matter how bad it may seem. God knows exactly what you need to get through a storm. It’s all in His timing though.

Remember, storms in life are only temporary, and to get to the rainbow, as well as any victory, you have to see the dark clouds and ride out the storm. Don’t always think of any waiting period as a storm or a bad thing in your life either. It might be just the thing that is needed in your life to bring you closer to Him. God already knows exactly what trials you will have in your life. He also knows how to get you out of every storm in your life.

When all hope seems to be lost, He always makes a way when there seems to be no way. No matter how big your storm may look at the time, remember that God is bigger than anything you may face. God is good all the time, all the time, God is good, regardless of the circumstances that you may encounter in your life. Don’t tell God how big your problem is, remind Satan that he stands no chance against God’s mighty power. God loves every one of us as His children. You can speak out with truth and with confidence that God is with you at all times. Tell your problem how big your God is.

You can remind yourself of God’s power to help you through anything, through the scriptures. Such as Psalm 27:1, ” The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?”

Nothing is too big for God to handle. In Mathew 19:26 it says, “Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

While we wait, He works. Whether we may see, hear or believe it or not, He is constantly at work in every situation. He allows us to have seasons of waiting, to work His will in our lives. When we wait, He often reveals His power and glory in ways we can’t even imagine.

Waiting is hard in any aspect.
