Have you ever wondered what it is like to be guilty for Christ, or have you ever felt guilty for loving and knowing Christ? Have you ever experienced the feeling of despair when someone mocks you for your faith?\u00a0 The Newsboys have a great song about wanting to be guilty for Him. It talks about longing to be known as a Christian and known to be guilty for your faith.<\/div>\n

First verse: \u201cWhen did it become breaking a rule. To say your name out loud in school? When your names the only one that sets us free. When did it become incorrect to speak the truth about life and death? When your life gave us all eternity? Pre-chorus: Even if it gets me convicted. I’ll be on my knees with my hands lifted. Chorus: If serving you is against the law of man. If living out my faith in you is banned. Then I’ll stand right before the jury. If saying I believe is out of line. If I’m judged cause I’m gonna give my life. To show the world the love that fills me. Then I want to be guilty.\u201d<\/div>\n

This song has so many good points in it. It asks why is it wrong to say God’s name and to proclaim His name proudly? There are so many different answers to that question, but the most important answer is the one you feel in your heart as a follower of Christ. If you’re being judged for being a Christian, you’re doing the right thing, because you’re standing up for your faith and for your Savior. Don’t ever be afraid to stand up for your faith, no matter who or what gets in your way. If you get hurt for your faith, remember who you are honoring through your suffering.<\/div>\n

We can rest assured that God is always with us and there for us. Even if we are convicted by others for having our faith in Christ, we can still stand strong with others and unite for our love for God and spread the word of the Gospel. We can stand firm and boldly proclaim that we are loved by Him and that we want to spread His love to everyone.<\/div>\n

Second verse: \u201cI’ll rise up and honor you. I’ll testify to all the good you do. ‘Cause your grace and your mercy have overtaken me. So even if it gets me convicted. I’ll be on my knees with my hands lifted. Chorus: If serving you is against the law of man. If living out my faith in you is banned. Then I’ll stand right before the jury. If saying I believe is out of line. If I’m judged because I’m gonna give my life, to show the world the love that fills me. Then I wanna be guilty.\u201d If someone tells you not to live your life for Christ, you have a choice to reject the Lord and renounce your faith, or you have the other choice to stand up for what you believe in.<\/div>\n

Bridge: \u201cThen I want to be guilty by association. Guilty of being a voice proclaiming your ways. Your truth. Your life. I’ll pay the price to be your light.\u201d It truly is an honor to be guilty for loving and knowing Christ. No matter what happens in your faith walk, remember who you are serving and why you are serving Him. We often do pay the price to be His light. It is so worth it, because we get to have a relationship with Him and spend the rest of our lives with Him in Heaven.<\/div>\n

If you ever have heard of being a martyr for faith, that means that someone willingly dies for their faith and for proclaiming their faith in God. Hopefully you will never have to die for your faith, but it does reign in the question of what you would do if you were asked the question of whether you believe in God. What if someone asked that question to you and pointed a gun at your head as they asked that question? What would you say? Would you say that yes you believe in God and live, or be shot? Or would you deny your faith and have to spend eternity in Hell? We probably would all say we wouldn’t renounce our faith in that type of situation, but fortunately we haven’t had to experience that scenario either. It is an honor and privilege to be guilty of being a follower of Christ. We should be proud and not ever feel guilty of following Him.
