\u201cHeart of Worship\u201d is one of my favorite songs to sing. How many times when you\u2019re singing, do you really listen to the words and meditate of the words of any song? How much do you really think about the lyrics in the song \u201cHeart of Worship\u201d? It was written by Matt Redman. The story behind it goes something like this: In his church, it was more about singing and the performance of the band than it was about worshipping God. Matt Redman wanted to know what it would be like when the church would just simple come together in worship of Christ as the one true savior and have the music be stripped away. The lyrics are as follows:
\nFirst verse: “When the music fades. All is stripped away. And I simply come. Longing just to bring something that’s of worth. That will bless your heart. I’ll bring you more than a song. For a song in itself. Is not what you have required. You search much deeper within. Through the way things appear. You’re looking into my heart. Chorus: I’m coming back to the heart of worship. And it’s all about you. It’s all about you, Jesus. I’m sorry, Lord, for the thing I’ve made it. When it’s all about you. It’s all about you, Jesus.”<\/div>\n
This verse says, that when the music in our lives and in our churches fade, we should simply come to God in both prayer and praise. We often make the worship all about ourselves when it should be all about God. Hence the words saying that we are sorry for the way we have made worship about us instead of Him.\u00a0 We should praise and thank Him no matter where we may be in our lives.\u00a0 We should never forget to thank him for everything He has done in our lives and in our churches. Worship truly is all about God and showering Him with the praise He deserves. He deserves more than a song or songs to be sung as an option of praise to Him. He already knows us from the inside out, so why do we pretend as though He doesn\u2019t know our hearts?<\/div>\n

He deserves our undivided attention. Sometimes at church we get distracted by the message or feel as though we shouldn\u2019t be there because we have better things to do in our lives and better things to do with our time. We need to make time every day to spend with God, not just at church for an hour every Sunday. Being in church is all about worshipping God for who He really is and feeling good about it.<\/div>\n

Second verse: “King of endless worth. No one could express. How much you deserve. Though I’m weak and poor. All I have is yours. Every single breath. I’ll bring you more than a song. For a song in itself. Is not what you have required. You search much deeper within. Through the way things appear. You’re looking into my heart. Chorus: I’m coming back to the heart of worship. And it’s all about you. It’s all about you, Jesus. I’m sorry, Lord, for the thing I’ve made it. When it’s all about you. It’s all about you, Jesus.”<\/div>\n

He truly is the King of endless worth and no one can ever find the words to describe how much he deserves for saving us through His death. Even though we are weak and poor, we are saved in Him and through Him we have eternal life. Everything we have is His. We should ring Him more than songs that we know the words to by heart in church. In other words, we shouldn\u2019t just sing them to sing them and just go through the motions of them.<\/div>\n

Worship should be all about God. That is the main reason we come to church is to get to know Him better and to worship Him with our full hearts and our minds focused on Him. May we always meditate on the words of this song whenever we sing it in church and remember that God is the one we are here for, whether we are in church, singing, or not. May we look deeper into the words of this song and remember that the heart of our worship revolves around the one who allows us to worship, and it revolves around the one who deserves all our praise from the bottom of our hearts- Jesus.<\/div>\n
