This song is off their newer album, “Welcome To The New”. The whole album is filled with awesome encouragement about God’s love.
First verse is as follows: I don’t have to know you. To know that you will go through hard times. It’s just part of life. Don’t let that moment blind you And don’t let it define you. Take heart, that’s not who you are. Our God is able, more than capable, to be faithful until the end. And finish what He started . No matter what you’ve done, Grace comes like a flood. There’s hope to carry on. He’ll finish what He started. No matter what you face. His mercy will not change. He’s with you all the way. He’ll finish what He started.

This verse states that there is nothing you can do to keep God from being there for you at all times. Even though there are many times you may not feel like He is there, He is subtly there with you through everything in your life. Don’t let any moment that is hard define you or blind you. Just because you go through hard times, the hard times don’t ever have to have control over your life. Hard times are just part of life, but God is willing and capable to stay faithful to you until He finishes what He started.
The first verse and chorus prove that God is able, willing and capable of anything for our good. He is capable to be faithful until the end. Anything in our lives that He has, set in motion He will help you complete it, no matter what. He isn’t going to lead you wrong. All you have to do is call on Him for guidance. This song is to help you better understand what God can do, what He is doing and what He will do in your life. It is also written to give you encouragement.
The second verse of songs are almost always normally shorter. Maybe it’s because they’re trying to bring a point to light on a shorter amount of time.

The second verse in this song tells us to remember we are forgiven by God. So there is literally no reason to give in to Satan’s lie that any of you are disqualified for any task that God has set before you. The second verse is as follows: Remember you’re forgiven, So there’s no need to give into the lie, you’re disqualified. Chorus: Our God is able, more than capable. to be faithful until the end. He’ll finish what he started. No matter what you’ve done. Grace comes like a flood. There’s hope to carry on. He’ll finish what He started. No matter what you face His mercy will not change. He’s with you all the way. He’ll finish what He started. There’s never any need to give in to Satan’s lie that you’re disqualified. You’re already forgiven.
Bridge: This work He started in you now . He is faithful to complete it. The promise was sealed when He cried out, “it is finished”. He’ll finish what He started. The bridge says that any work He starts in any of you He will be faithful to you and complete it. His promise of always being with you through every single circumstance both good and bad was sealed when He cried out from the cross “it is finished”. God had Jesus seal the promise of seeing everything through to the end when He gave up His life on the cross for all of our sakes. What He started in your life, He will bring it to completion, no matter what may happen in your life.
Chorus: No matter what you’ve done. Grace comes like a flood. There’s hope to carry on. He’ll finish what he started. No matter what you face. His mercy will not change. He’s with you all the way . He’ll finish what He started. What He started (What He started). What He started (What He started). Oh, He’ll finish what He started.
No matter what we’ve done, grace truly does come like a flood and give us hope to carry on. There is no lie that He won’t finish what He started. There is hope to get through anything in our lives with God on our side. God gives us the strength to carry on, through Him. God will always be our strength in our time of need and He will give us the strength to face anything that comes our way in life.

For a while now, I have been writing blogs about the meanings behind Christian songs. “Finish What He Started” is another good song by the Christian band Mercy Me.
