Mercy Me is best known for their song “I Can Only Imagine”. They\u00a0are another awesome Christian band. They got their start in 1994.\u00a0 \u201cI Can Only Imagine\u201d, is one of their most known songs and best known songs at that, because it is a crossover single.<\/div>\n
The lyrics for the first verse and chorus are as follows: \u201cI can only imagine what it will be like. When I walk, by your side. I can only imagine what my eyes will see. When you face is before me. I can only imagine. I can only imagine. Chorus: Surrounded by You glory. What will my heart feel. Will I dance for you Jesus? Or in awe of You be still? Will I stand in your presence. Or to my knees will I fall. Will I sing hallelujah. Will I be able to speak at all? I can only imagine. I can only imagine.\u201d This song gives us a glimpse into the lead singer of Mercy Me,-Bart Millard’s heart.<\/div>\n

He is talking about the first time he will have a face to face interaction with Jesus, when he gets to Heaven. He is literally imagining what it will be like for him to be before Jesus.<\/div>\n

The lyrics are self-explanatory- but what really always catches my eye is the description of the chorus- Surrounded by You glory. What will my heart feel. Will I dance for you Jesus? Or in awe of You be still? Will I stand in your presence. Or to my knees will I fall. Will I sing hallelujah. Will I be able to speak at all? I can only imagine. I can only imagine.\u201d Will we stand before Him and want to dance or drop to our knees in complete awe of Him?<\/div>\n

It raises many questions throughout the song. What will our hearts feel when we actually see Him face to face for the first time? Will we even be able to speak or sing Him praises? Will we actually be in His presence first, or will we be in the presence of both His presence and the angels? Or will the angels grant us permission into Heaven and direct us to Jesus?\u00a0 No doubt it\u2019ll be an overwhelming feeling and our breathes will be taken away by the beauty of Him and of Heaven.<\/div>\n

It raises the questions that people have been asking for centuries-what does God look like? What does Heaven look like?\u00a0 We honestly won\u2019t even know until we get there at the end of our lives. The good news is that for us, it is not the end. It might be the end of our lives on Earth physically but it is not the end of our lives in eternity.<\/div>\n

The second verse and chorus continue as follows: \u201cI can only imagine when that day comes. When I find myself standing in the Son. I can only imagine when all I would do is forever. The second verse points out that we can literally only imagine when the day comes when we get to see Jesus for the first time and worship Him forever. That\u2019s the greatest thing in the world to think about and to have the privilege to look forward to. Think about it- no matter what goes on in our lives, we have the honor and upmost privilege of knowing that we are saved and have a place waiting for us in Heaven.<\/div>\n
A lot of people have written to the band that this song has touched their lives in so many different ways.<\/div>\n

For me, I get emotional because of the deep sense of the\u00a0lyrics and thinking\u00a0of what is waiting for me in Heaven. I\u2019m so glad Bart Millard decided to write this song and sing it for the world to hear and to cherish. I hope others hear it and are affected in many ways by this one of a kind song that allows us to get a glimpse of heaven and of the passion that Mercy Me and Bart Millard both\u00a0have for our Lord and Savior.<\/div>\n
