1 Timothy 6:10 says, \u201cThe love of money is the root of all evil.\u00a0 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.\u201d
\nFinances are a hard subject for anyone to talk about these days. Maybe because so many people have financial problems. People may wonder where God is through their times of having to pay so many bills. It can cause stress on a relationship, sleepless nights and hard days, figuring out how you’re going to pay all of your bills.<\/div>\n
The good news is that God has, can and will provide all you need to be financially well off. Saving is an important part of growing up and being responsible.<\/div>\n
It is easily confused that money is the root of all evil. The actual verse is the love of money is the root of all evil. This means that, if someone is so into money that it interferes with everything else in their life, they have a love of it. It is not a good idea to love money just because it can provide you with stuff you want in your life. People have gotten into so much trouble because of their love of money. Problems such as gambling, debt of all kinds, such as credit card debt, and inability to pay bills on time, that can cause rifts in a marriage.<\/div>\n
It is important to make sure you’re only buying the things you absolutely need. Only buying things that you know you can afford with each pay check and saving as much of each pay check as, you can, will help you in the long run.<\/div>\n
Ask God to help you make smart choices with your money. Ask Him to help you make good financial plants each month, and to help plan for your future.<\/div>\n
God gives us choices every single day about how, where and when we spend our money. We can spend it wisely or foolishly.<\/div>\n
Planning\u00a0and saving for your future can help you in case of unexpected circumstances. Such as\u00a0sickness, the death of a family member or unexpected appliance breakdowns such as a dish washer breaking or a car\u2019s transmission breaking. Unexpected expenses do come up and they’re unavoidable in life, unfortunately.
\nThat\u2019s why it is always important to have some form of a savings account. Having a savings account can not only help you in the long run, but it can give you a sense of what to do and how to better handle your money. It is always a good feeling to know how to handle your money and figuring out how much money you have for necessary spending every time your paycheck is given to you. It is also a relief when you have savings to fall back on, instead of worrying how\u00a0you are\u00a0going to pay for\u00a0an expense? When you save, it can help you feel more responsible to. It can help you figure out what you want to plan, such as taking any trips in your future and how much they\u2019ll cost for you and your family. Let\u2019s say a week-long trip to Myrtle Beach costs less in May than it does in June. Wouldn\u2019t you want to pay less instead of more?
\nIt is also important to teach yourself and your household how to tithe. I admit, that this is an aspect in my life that I have to begin diligently working on. Tithing means giving a percentage of what you earn to the Lord. Giving up a percentage of our paycheck is a hard thing to imagine, especially in this day and age. Now, I\u2019m not saying and God isn\u2019t saying that we have to give up 100 dollars or more of every pay check we earn. But, He does ask us to tithe our paycheck back to Him.<\/div>\n
Some Bible verses that talk about money include:
\nMalachi 3:10 says, \u201cBring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,\u201d says the LORD Almighty, \u201cand see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.\u201d This verse says to literally test God in the way He works our tithing for our blessings. He says test me in this and see how much more I will bless you. Although, it can sometimes be very difficult to give up some of our paycheck, it can feel good to give some of it up to God. The motivation for the tithe shouldn\u2019t be selfish though either. We shouldn\u2019t tithe just so God blesses us.
\nEcclesiastes 5:10 says, \u201cWhoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless.\u201d This verse basically speaks for itself saying, anyone who loves money only wants more of it and will never ever be satisfied with how much he or she has.
\nHebrews 13:5 says \u201cKeep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, \u201cNever will I leave you; never will I forsake you.\u201d This verse again speaks for itself, teaching us to always be thankful for everything God has given us and to never take anything we have in life for granted.<\/div>\n
When we learn how to use our money, we also learn to value our money. We learn to use it wisely, or we risk loosing it foolishly.
\nMoney can cause many problems in our lives if we choose to let it, but it can also help us better our future if we learn to use it wisely. May God help us in our financial endeavors as we learn how to best handle any money we may come across.<\/div>\n
