But some days it can be hard to go to the service because you’re tired, feeling unworthy to be in God’s presence. There are many instances where I haven’t wanted to go to church every week and many other times where I didn’t feel worthy to even be there. But as soon as I step through those doors, I’m filled with an automatic sense of peace and calmness, no matter how I was feeling before.

I’ve had the honor of singing on my church praise team for the last six years. We lead a contemporary service every Saturday night. It’s such an honor to sing for Him and the friendships I’ve made through it will no doubt last a lifetime. Serving Him through worship and song is such an amazing privilege to me and for me. It’s something I wouldn’t trade for the world.

He gave me the gift of singing so I would use that gift to serve Him. Other ways you can serve Him through being involved at church include: becoming a deacon, becoming a pastor, volunteering with the childcare and helping with Sunday school.

Church can be the place where you can get that connection with God every week, listen to meaningful messages and sing fun, upbeat and powerful songs to the King of Kings. It isn’t supposed to be difficult to be there. But Satan has the power, not to mention the desire to make, people not want to go to church. He can make us believe that church isn’t worth it or that it’s a mistake to go there. But that is a lie. it’s never a bad idea to go to church. Being in God’s house can give you a sense of calm, purpose and longing.

Many times, when I’m in church, I find myself looking at the cross and get emotional thinking about Jesus’s sacrifice. How could He love me that much that He deems me worthy to be saved? It’s hard to wrap my brain around at times.

Hebrews 10:25 says “do not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” This verse signifies how important it is to go to church on a weekly basis. You might say “well it’s too early of a service”, or “it’s too late of a service and I must get the kids to bed early because they have school in the morning”. It’s important to teach yourself and your kids about going to worship whether it’s every week or not. God isn’t going to look down on you for missing a service or two, but, you probably will start to feel less and less connected to Him than if you go to worship every week.

Mathew 18 :20 25 says 20 “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” This verse has always spoken to me reminding me to pray for and especially with other people, whether we are in church or not.

It always has me thinking, if I pray with others, we could help our prayers be heard more. If He hears one person praying, no doubt He hears a full congregation praying.

Colossians 3:16 says “16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.” This verse teaches us to not be afraid to spread God’s message of good news whether we are in church or not. Especially when we are in church, we can grow in wisdom of the psalms and the songs we sing when we carefully acknowledge the lyrics. I always get emotional singing certain songs such as “I Love You Lord” and “Shine Jesus Shine”. Learning songs like that at a young age, helped fuel my thirst for God.

Roman’s 10:17 says, 17 “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” We can gain so much knowledge of God and we can gain respect for other fellow believers, just from listening to a pastor’s message.

James 1:22 says, 22 “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” We are supposed to take the Word of God very seriously. We should always try and do what He tells us and to reach people with His word. Reaching people with the gospel is one of our biggest, most important jobs as believers. It is also our main job as Christians here on Earth. We shouldn’t do that with a spirit of fear or of timidity. He invites us openly to come to His house for worship, praise, lessons, faith, and to help round ourselves better in the faith.
May God open your eyes each and every time you walk into His house.

Going to church is something we’re all accustomed to.
