Third Day is one of the most known Christian bands. “Trust in Jesus”, is one of the most known songs by them. It talks about how we need to have faith and ultimate trust in Jesus and how we can trust in Jesus and His plan for our lives.
First verse: “One of these days we all will stand in judgment for. Every single word that we have spoken. One of these days we all will stand before the Lord. Give a reason for everything we’ve done. And what I’ve done is. Trust in Jesus. My great Deliverer. My strong Defender. The Son of God. I trust in Jesus. Blessed Redeemer. My Lord forever. The Holy One, the Holy One. “
This verse talks about the attributes of Jesus- He is our great deliverer, our strong defender, our Lord forever and the Holy One, as well as the Son of God, whom we should worship. One day, we will all be before the Lord in judgement. That can be a scary thought of standing before God. What will you say when you appear before Him? Will he let you into the kingdom of Heaven, or damn you into the fiery pits of Hell? We will stand before Him and give the reason for everything we have done. What would you say to justify your sin?
Second verse: “What are you going to do when your time has come. And your life is done and there’s nothing you can stand on. What will you have to say at the judgment throne. I already know the only thing that I can say I trust in Jesus. My great Deliverer. My strong Defender. The Son of God. I trust in Jesus. Blessed Redeemer. My Lord forever. The Holy One, the Holy One.”
The only thing that you can do is trust in Jesus with all your heart. It is a hard concept to think about day in and day out. You are faced with a choice whether you want to trust in God and Jesus for your whole life and end up in eternity with Him, or to live your life the way you want to and have the possibility of ending up in Hell? Why not follow Him and trust Him with your life and give Him the stress and anything else you feel in your life.
Bridge: “There’s nothing I can do on my own to find forgiveness. It’s by His grace alone I trust in Jesus. Trust in Jesus. Chorus: I trust in Jesus. My great Deliverer. My strong Defender. The Son of God. I trust in Jesus. Blessed Redeemer. My Lord forever. The Holy One, the Holy One. I trust in Jesus. My great Deliverer. My strong Defender. The Son of God. I trust in Jesus. Blessed Redeemer. My Lord forever. The Holy One, the Holy One.”
There literally is nothing you do can do on our own to earn or find forgiveness. You can’t do anything such as earning forgiveness from someone else or not repenting from your sin.  It is only by His grace alone that you trust in Jesus. You can learn to trust Him through faith and through prayers and perseverance. It can be a scary thought to know that you can’t do anything to earn forgiveness or anything to earn God’s love or favor. The good news is that all you have to do is trust in Him for your whole life.
You can’t earn forgiveness by the honorable deeds you do or by the work you do for others such as volunteering in your community or at church. It is a good thing that you can’t work to earn forgiveness from God. If we all tried to earn God’s forgiveness we all would fail miserably. The Bible even says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths”-Proverbs 3:5-6. We can trust in Him for the goodness He has put in our lives. We can trust Him to guard our words, and actions. We can trust that He will protect our friends and our families. We can trust that He will always be with us as our friend and our Savior. We can trust that He will never leave us or forsake us. Trusting in our great defender and our strong deliverer as our Lord and Savior is an amazing privilege and honor. He is always with us and will always help us through anything in our lives. When we look at our lives, we learn we all need to have faith and trust in something. Why not trust in the one who gave you life, Jesus?
