glasses of faith

Do you have a verse that stands out among your life? Is it your go-to verse, your verse of strength, your verse in times of need, or a daily reminder that you give yourself? One of the verses that has impacted my life is Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” It has impacted me in different ways.

There is often the question of why bad things happen in life.  Just looking at the words of the verse, it strikes different chords within me. “And we know that God works together in all things for the good of those who love Him for those who are called according to his purpose.” It has always spoken to me and reminded me that no matter what happens God is still working with me and for me. Just as He is working for the good of all of those who love Him. He is working for you and through everything that is happening in your life. Even when you don’t know why things happen you can rest assured that God is still with you and always will be. You can rest assured that God is working for you in your life. If it wasn’t true, then He wouldn’t have allowed it to be written. Everything is true in the Bible.

Every single one of us is called according to His purpose. Even though we may not always believe it, He has a unique specific plan in mind for each one of us. We have all asked ourselves what is my purpose in life? What am I here for? What are my goals in life? We have even asked God “Lord, why do you bring me to this spot in my life? Everyone has struggled with figuring out what their true calling is from God. But what if the things we are searching for as our calling, isn’t what God has in mind? If they aren’t what He has in mind, He may let us go test the deeper waters just to get our feet wet and for us to look to Him again and say, “ok Lord, this isn’t what I expected. Please lead me to where I can stand on your solid ground again and lead me to where you want me in your plan for my life.” Once we give up our own stubborn and selfish ways and allow Him to lead us in life, it does get easier. But fully trusting His perfect plan takes much practice and discipline.

But whether we test the waters of our own plan or fully rely on God all the time, He is still walking ahead of us carving out His best plan for our lives.  He is always carving out His plans for our lives even when we turn our backs on Him. That is one of the best things about Him, that He will never leave us or forsake us, even when we might turn away from Him for a few hours, an entire year. He is an awesome God who loves us enough to give us free will as to what we do with our lives, but He wants a relationship with all of us no matter how bad we have been in our journey. He knows we need His help, and that we need His love, mercy, and grace. He will try and normally will get our attention and get us back towards Him no matter how far we stray away from him. (You can always rely on God, but with sin, unfortunately, relying on God at all times is impossible with our sinful nature. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news there but it’s true)

If you weren’t called for His purpose, then you wouldn’t be here, alive and breathing. He has you on Earth for His specific purpose. Even though you may not know what that purpose is yet. He will reveal it to you in time. It may not be a loud resounding vice telling you “this is what I want you to do and what you are called to do.” He might just whisper it in your mind, in your soul, or even in a dream or vision. You might not even actually hear Him telling you what your purpose is. You might just feel a sudden shift in your mind, your heart or even within your body. You might start to look at things in your life differently once He gives you what your calling and purpose is in your life.  Ask Him to reveal His purpose for your life. It will take much time discipline and the search for your passion and your purpose in life. But eventually, He will reveal where he wants you to go in your life. He will give you the right friends, relationships, and the right job all at the right time. His timing.

Remember the Bible says in Romans 8:28, all things will work out for the good of those who love Him. Lean on Him and continue to ask Him to take control of your life and to give you that peace that surpasses all understanding. God has a plan for you.
