appreciating everything

Have you ever thought about where God wants you in your life? What about asking yourself what God wants you to do with your life and with the unique abilities He has given you, not to mention the unique abilities that God has blessed you with? Think about it for a second or even a few minutes, what are your abilities? Are you a good cook that makes meals for your family and friends and for the people that eat at your restaurant?

If you are, how about expanding that gift of making food and taking it to the homeless? Or how about cooking food for someone who recently experienced a loss in their family or the loss of a close friend? Are you good at sewing? If you are, you can always make clothes for your family and friends and even make some clothes for others who aren’t as fortunate as you.

Everything you can do and everything that you’re willing to do in order to help others that are less fortunate makes God smile. These are just some of the many examples of what you can do with the gifts and abilities you have from God. But what if you are in a place of your life where you are unsure of where to go and unsure of what you want to do as a career or about what abilities you have? Don’t worry or be discouraged. We have all gone through times like that.  life doesn’t always hand you a bowl of candy. Even if you aren’t exactly where you want to be in life, it doesn’t mean you have to be upset. Just enjoy the journey as much as you can, as you get to where you want to be. Remember, even if you aren’t where you want to be, you are still right where God wants you to be

The good news is, God has you in whatever season you’re in for His reason. Even though you may not like the place or the season you’re in at the moment, God has a plan for you and a purpose for any pain you may be experiencing. When you ask Him why you’re at where you’re at and He doesn’t give you a specific answer, it means that He is probably trying to test your faith and to help you lean towards Him even more. He wants you to learn from this experience so you can grow into an even better person and an even better person of faith.

He could be using this time to help show you and others that His grace is sufficient for you. Even when it feels like you’re weak or that you’re failing, He is still there with you through it. He could be helping you shine your light of faith to others even more. He could be helping mold you into the person He wants you to become. God knows exactly why you’re in the season that you’re in for this time in your life. Even when it seems it will never end, He promises things will become easier and get better.

Ask Him to take hold of your heart and to speak to your heart and to lead you where He wants you, even if it means going through hard times or the valley of the shadow of death. Ask Him to give you the clear-cut sign as to what actions you should and what actions you shouldn’t take in your life. For example, if you really want a new job or a promotion, put it in prayer and ask God for it, but also add “not my will, but your will be done for my life Lord”. Tell Him that you want His help and that you want to surrender your thoughts, your ways, and your life to Him so that your life can start going the way He planned it.

Have you ever asked yourself and Him why He has you where He has you right now in this season of your life? Have the attitude of, “God, this is where you have me right now. I may not like it. I may not understand, but I’m going to keep doing my best, knowing that you are going to use this to my advantage. Help me to lean on you for both wisdom and strength and to remember that even when it feels like things are out of my control, you are still the one in control. I let you in the driver’s seat and I give you control over every aspect of my life. Whether it is my career choice, my financial ability to provide, my skills at my job, the prospect of changing jobs. I give you everything in my life. Take it and let it be used as yours and yours alone and to glorify you.  Thank you, Lord, that you are working your plans for my life and that your plans always turn out better than mine ever could. Amen”
