In that match-up, 14% prefer some other candidate, and 14% are undecided. (To see survey question wording,\u00a0<a title=\"http:\/\/www.rasmussenreports.com\/public_content\/politics\/questions\/pt_survey_questions\/august_2011\/questions_paul_obama_match_up_august_15_16_2011\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rasmussenreports.com\/public_content\/politics\/elections\/election_2012\/questions\/september_2011\/questions_cain_vs_obama_september_26_27_2011\" target=\"_self\">click here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rasmussenreports.com\/public_content\/politics\/elections\/election_2012\/election_2012_presidential_election\/perry_44_obama_41_president_leads_other_gop_hopefuls\" target=\"_self\">month ago<\/a>,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0the president led Cain by seven percentage points. In\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rasmussenreports.com\/public_content\/politics\/elections\/election_2012\/election_2012_presidential_election\/election_2012_obama_between_42_and_49_against_all_republicans_tested\" target=\"_self\">March<\/a><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Obama held an 18 point advantage over the businessman and talk show host.<\/p>\n<p>Data released earlier today shows that\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rasmussenreports.com\/public_content\/politics\/elections\/election_2012\/election_2012_presidential_election\/plurality_says_romney_qualified_to_be_president_voters_divided_on_cain\" target=\"_self\">voters nationwide are evenly divided as to whether or not Cain is qualified to be president<\/a><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 30% say yes, 33% no, and 37% are not sure. Republicans, by a 49% to 17% margin believe he is qualified while most Democrats disagree. Among Republicans, Cain\u2019s numbers on this question are similar to Rick Perry\u2019s but not as strong as Mitt Romney\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>In a match-up against President Obama, just 61% of Republicans are ready to vote for Cain. Eighteen percent (18%) would prefer a third option and 11% are not sure. Among unaffiliated voters, 33% prefer Cain, 31% Obama, and 36% aren\u2019t ready to commit to either candidate.<\/p>\n<p>Rasmussen Reports regularly updates data on potential Election 2012 match-ups.
