Minnesota Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann bashed President Barack Obama\u2019s \u201cjobs plan\u201d speech Thursday evening, saying that he \u201cdoubled down on more of the same policies that are killing the economy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile the president\u2019s speech comes on the heels of a trillion dollars of failed stimulus, bailouts, and temporary gimmicks aimed at creating jobs, the president continued to cling to the idea that government is the solution to creating jobs,\u201d Bachmann said at a press conference shortly after Obama\u2019s speech.<\/p>\n

\u201cI stand here tonight to say to the president, not only should Congress not pass your plan, I say, \u2018stop; your last plan hasn\u2019t worked, it\u2019s hurting the American economy,\u2019\u201d Bachmann continued.<\/p>\n

The Republican presidential contender also vilified Obama for calling a joint session of Congress to deliver yet \u201canother political speech.\u201d She said Obama used \u201cone of the most sacred deliberative forums, a joint session of Congress,\u201d to give another stump speech.<\/p>\n

Bachmann wasn\u2019t in attendance for the speech, due to bad road conditions and airport issues on her way back from Wednesday night\u2019s presidential debate in California.<\/p>\n

\u201cI listened to it in the car, unfortunately, driving in,\u201d Bachmann said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe plane was scheduled to arrive in time for me to get into the Chamber and unfortunately there were delays with our flight getting here, delays on the tarmac, delays even finding a gate because so many gates had been closed,\u201d she explained. \u201cSo, unfortunately, getting in with the rain, I wasn\u2019t able to be in the Chamber.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked what she thought of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor saying he\u2019d support some of the president\u2019s plan, specifically small business relief, Bachmann responded by saying that she supports small business relief as well, but doubts Obama\u2019s proposal really solves the problem.<\/p>\n

Obama\u2019s \u201cplan\u201d isn\u2019t in writing and there is no specific legislation that any members of Congress or the public have seen yet, Bachmann said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, this is a speech we got,\u201d Bachmann said. \u201cAnd, the Congressional Budget Office has said that it isn\u2019t possible for them to score a speech that the president gives. We don\u2019t know the details, we only know the statements that the president has given.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cOf course, once the details are released, if there is something that would bring true tax relief to small businesses, I would embrace it.\u201d<\/p>\n
