Susan G. Komen for the Cure Partners with Planned Parenthood<\/h1>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n

\"\"Over the past couple of weeks, pro-lifers have been abuzz with news regarding\u00a0Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s\u00a0pink ribbons and its support of Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider.\u00a0According to Life News,<\/a>\u00a0figures recently released show that 18 affiliate locations of Komen for the Cure donated more than $569,000 to Planned Parenthood throughout 2010. This release resulted in backlash from pro-lifers, especially from those who have devoutly supported the Komen foundation in the past.<\/p>\n

Although there has been confusion and misunderstanding on whether Komen funds in\u00a0Ohio\u00a0go to Planned Parenthood, Ohio Right to Life has confirmed that\u00a0these funds do indirectly support Planned Parenthood.\u00a0Komen affiliates are required to send a\u00a0minimum of 25% of their local funds*\u00a0to the national office.\u00a0National funds are used for grants and also flow back into their affiliate chapters which again, donated $569,000 to Planned Parenthood in 2010!<\/p>\n

As such, several Catholic Bishops in Ohio have released statements over the summer signaling an end of their support for the organization. Any schools or parishes in those dioceses previously involved with fundraisers for the Komen foundation will not be involved any longer.<\/p>\n

Cleveland\u00a0Right to Life has led the educational effort in Ohio on this link between Komen and Planned Parenthood.
