Gary Bauer reports in the “American Values” newsletter July 20, 2011: \u00a0<\/strong>Yesterday, July 19, 2011, White House\u00a0Press Secretary Jay Carney\u00a0statement<\/a>\u00a0said that President Obama fully supports “the legislative repeal of the so-called Defense of Marriage Act,” and “is proud to support the Respect for Marriage Act.”<\/p>\n

It is important to understand exactly what this means. The bill Obama just endorsed would for the first time require the federal government to recognize homosexual marriages by extending tax benefits to two men or two women who file joint tax returns<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

More importantly, by repealing the Defense of Marriage Act, the bill demonstrates that libertarians and states’ rights activists are fundamentally wrong when it comes to the marriage issue. The militant homosexual rights movement is seeking a national redefinition of marriage.<\/p>\n

It is inconceivable that the country would end up with a system where the status of your marriage changes based upon what state you live in. It is not reasonable to assume that two men “married” in\u00a0Massachusetts would suddenly become “unmarried” if they moved to\u00a0Oklahoma\u00a0or any of the dozens of other states that have adopted marriage protection amendments. Either normal marriage will prevail or we will end up with same-sex “marriage” nationwide.<\/p>\n

As we have seen time and time again, liberals are intent on forcing their morality on the rest of society. And because of the advances of the militant homosexual rights movement,\u00a0polygamists<\/a>\u00a0are now going to court to have their alternative lifestyle recognized.<\/p>\n

If the radical left get its way, we will be headed down the road to a culture where marriage will include any grouping of any number of individuals and sexes. In short, marriage will mean nothing and more and more children will grow up with, yes,\u00a0three mommies.<\/a><\/p>\n
