After the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.creationtips.com\/watergo.html\">worldwide Flood of Noah&#8217;s time<\/a>, God put safeguards in place against human violence. Of prime importance was the death penalty: \u201cWhoso sheddeth man&#8217;s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man\u201d (Genesis 9:6). \u00a0If a human or an animal killed a human, the killer was to be put to death (Genesis 9:5). This was because of the sacredness of human life.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.creationtips.com\/creatsci.html\">God created humans in His image<\/a>, so murdering another human meant you would forfeit your own life. \u00a0God has never revoked the death penalty. Jesus said He did not come to destroy the law, but to\u00a0fulfill\u00a0it (Matthew 5:17).
