Hi folks, <\/p>\n

I have not met any of you but I wanted to share some information that I was able to obtain yesterday.\u00a0\u00a0Meetings in DC regarding\u00a0Ohio\u00a0and\u00a0Protective\u00a0Mothers losing custody to abusers are taking place with some of our State Representatives.\u00a0 Upon a meeting that was held with Representative Teberi’s staff, I was emailed and contacted.\u00a0 I was provided the\u00a0following information regarding a father and his daughter and granddaughter several years ago inStark\u00a0County Ohio.<\/p>\n

The name of the Protective Mother’s father is Terry Nemeth; His contact information is\u00a0330-830-0026<\/a> (H) and\u00a0330-936-0569<\/a> (C).\u00a0 \u00a0I spoke with this father yesterday and learned the following information.<\/p>\n

Several years ago this family was a victim of a “custody scam,”\u00a0 all\u00a0involved attorneys, court appointed officials were from\u00a0Stark county.\u00a0 The family went through 3 attorneys.\u00a0 Eventually they sought counsel outside of Stark County.\u00a0 They found an attorney, Steve Slive, from\u00a0Cleveland.\u00a0 Initially, Mr. Slive did not want to take the case.\u00a0 However, he called another attorney who knew the Judge sitting in on this case.\u00a0 The attorney informed him that he would rather shoot himself in the foot than to have this Judge.\u00a0 After hanging up, Mr.\u00a0Stivers\u00a0took the case.\u00a0 The bad news is that he requires a $50,000.00 retainer.<\/p>\n

The father told me that Mr. Stiver’s told the court that with this case, “Things were going to be done right.”\u00a0 Previously, the family had asked that the Judge recuse himself and the Judge declined.\u00a0 After Mr. Stiver’s became involved\u00a0in the case, the Judge removed himself from the case.\u00a0 At that point, the father said that the case began to move in a more fair way.<\/p>\n

The family learned that nearly all of Ohio’s Federal Funding\u00a0for father’s rights groups was being funneled into\u00a0Stark County.\u00a0 The family met with the Governor of Ohio and their\u00a0Representative.\u00a0 As a\u00a0result this program was pretty much shut down in Ohio.<\/p>\n

I found out yesterday that there are several others cases of mother’s losing custody to abusers besides us.\u00a0 The following statistics apply:<\/p>\n

Abusers getting custody of children has become and epidemic. In highly\u00a0contested divorce cases, meaning that there is documented evidence of abuse, 70% of the time sole custody is given to the abuser. In 90% of these cases, custody is taken from a Protective Mother and given to an abusive father.\u00a0 Domestic Violence has steadily INCREASED within the last three years.<\/p>\n

Fathers and official’s are coached in\u00a0aggressive retaliatory litigation in order to receive these funds.<\/p>\n

Attached is a chart that shows where these funds originated, how they are used, etc.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Mr.\u00a0Nemeth was\u00a0very nice man and helpful.<\/div>\n

Please be advised of the following; <\/p>\n

For those of you who disbelieve that misuse of HHS-ACF\/OCSE programs for instigating high-conflict litigation against Protective Mothers is a myth. Last week,\u00a0I received a certified letter that was presented for failure to pay\u00a0child support. When\u00a0I opened the envelope, it contained a notice of contempt for failure to pay $5,000.00 in GAL fees. A witness was present when\u00a0I opened the envelope.\u00a0I was a stay-at-home mother. The GAL in\u00a0my case forwarded a complaint to Children’s Services for\u00a0physical abuse. The claim was thoroughly investigated and the claim was unsubstantiated. Before waiting for the report from Children’s Services, the GAL recommended custody to\u00a0the father.<\/p>\n

I know it sounds unbelievable but it happened.<\/p>\n
