WATCHWOMAN FYI:<\/strong><\/span> You can count on it, whenever evil things begin to simmer that take away your rights; such as discussed in the item below, however slowly at first and\u00a0subversively, you should note that the first thing they claim is that it is to protect the children. \u00a0(If they truly cared about children, why would they allow the legal murder of the unborn?) \u00a0But, alas, that\u2019s how they get the shepple and simpletons to fall for it. \u00a0Unfortunately, public government\u00a0sewer systems (PGSS),\u00a0controlled\u00a0by the National\u00a0Education\u00a0Association\/Union (NEA) that thrives off stealing your children’s brains and turning them into masses of little commie liberals that hate their elders, religious moral values of the Holy Bible and most of all, Jesus Christ — oh, did I just say public\u00a0government\u00a0sewer systems, I should have said public government schools for the benefit of the newbies to reading the truth for a change who won’t comprehend what public government sewer systems really are. \u00a0Notice the only difference between PIGS’s and PGSS is an “I.” \u00a0That’s why “I” say, never put your child in a PGSS. \u00a0It’s child abuse! Anyway, the PGSS won’t be able to understand or comprehend what is the problem with the following item. \u00a0PGSS will simply believe that it is a good thing for government to control private industry — but you and I know that is the epitome of\u00a0fascism. Obama’s Food Police in Staggering Crackdown on Market to Kids<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Either retool the recipes to contain certain levels of sugar, sodium and fats, or no more advertising and marketing to tots and teenagers, say several federal regulatory agencies.<\/p>\n

The same goes for restaurants.<\/p>\n

\"\"It\u2019s not just the usual suspected foods that are being targeted, such a thin mint cookies sold by scouts or M&Ms and Snickers, which sponsor cars in the\u00a0Sprint Cup, but pretty much everything on a restaurant menu.<\/p>\n

\"\"Although the intent of the guidelines is to combat\u00a0childhood obesity, foods that are low in calories, fat, and some considered\u00a0healthy foods, are also targets, including hot\u00a0breakfast cereals\u00a0such as oatmeal, pretzels, popcorn, nuts, yogurt, wheat bread, bagels, diet drinks,\u00a0fruit juice, tea, bottled water, milk and sherbet.<\/p>\n

Food industries\u00a0are in an uproar over the proposal written by the\u00a0Federal Trade Commission,\u00a0Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,\u00a0Food and Drug Administration\u00a0and the U.S.\u00a0Department of Agriculture.<\/p>\n

“The most disturbing aspect of this interagency working group is, after it imposes multibillions of dollars in restrictions on the food industry, there is no evidence of any impact on the scourge of childhood obesity,” said\u00a0Dan Jaffe,\u00a0executive vice president\u00a0of theAssociation of National Advertisers.<\/p>\n

The “Interagency Working Group on Food Marketed to Children, Preliminary Proposed Nutrition Principles to Guide Industry Self-Regulation Efforts” says it is voluntary, but industry officials say the intent is clear: Do it, or else.<\/p>\n

“When regulators strongly suggest a course of action, it\u2019s treated as a rule, not a suggestion,” said Scott Faber, vice president of federal affairs for the\u00a0Grocery Manufacturers Association. “Industry tends to heed these suggestions from our regulators, and this administration has made it clear they are willing to regulate if we don\u2019t implement their proposal.”<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not just the food industry that will be impacted. Hundreds of television shows that depend on the advertising revenue, such as the Nickelodeon Channel, ESPN, and programs including “American Idol” will be affected, critics of the proposal say\u2014at a cost of $5.8 trillion in marketing expenditures that support up to 20 million American jobs.<\/p>\n

\"\"If the food is not reformulated, no more ads or promotions on TV, radio, in print, on websites, as well as other digital advertising such as e-mail and text messaging, packaging, and point-of-purchase displays and other in-store marketing tools; product placement in movies, videos, video games, contests, sweepstakes, character licensing and toy branding; sponsorship of events including sport teams and individual athletes; and, philanthropic activity tied to branding opportunities.<\/p>\n

\"\"That includes softball teams that are sponsored by food companies and school reading programs sponsored by restaurants.<\/p>\n

“The Interagency working group recommends that the food industry, through voluntary self-regulatory efforts, make significant improvements in the nutritional quality of foods marketed to children and adolescents ages 2 to 17 years,” the proposal says.<\/p>\n

“By the year 2016, all food products within the categories most heavily marketed directly to children should meet two basic nutrition principles. Such foods should be formulated to \u2026 make a meaningful contribution to a healthful diet and minimize the content of nutrients that could have a negative impact on health and weight.”<\/p>\n

The foods most heavily marketed directly to children and adolescents fall into 10 categories: “breakfast cereals,\u00a0snack foods, candy,\u00a0dairy products, baked goods, carbonated beverages, fruit juice and non-carbonated beverages, prepared foods and meals, frozen and chilled desserts, and restaurant foods.”<\/p>\n

Beth Johnson, a dietician for Food Directions in Maryland, said many of the foods targeted in this proposal are the same foods approved by the federal government for the WIC nutrition program for women, infants and children.<\/p>\n

\"\"“This doesn\u2019t make any sense whatsoever,” Johnson said. “It\u2019s not going to do anything to help with obesity. These are decisions I want to make for my kids. These should not be government decisions.”<\/p>\n
