THE OLD PATHS<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I liked the old paths, when<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Moms were at home.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Dads were at work.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Brothers went into the army.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And sisters got married BEFORE having children!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Crime did not pay;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Hard work did;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And people knew the difference.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Moms could cook;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Dads would work;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Children would behave.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Husbands were loving;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Wives were supportive;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And children were polite.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Women wore the jewelry;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And Men wore the pants.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Women looked like ladies;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Men looked like gentlemen;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And children looked decent.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

People loved the truth,<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And hated a lie.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

They came to church to get IN,<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Not to get OUT!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Hymns sounded Godly;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Sermons sounded helpful;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Rejoicing sounded normal;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And crying sounded sincere.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Cursing was wicked;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Drugs were for illness.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The flag was honored;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

America was beautiful;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And God was welcome!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We read the Bible in public;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Prayed in school;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And preached from house to house.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

To be called an American was worth dying for;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

To be called an American was worth living for;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

To be called a traitor was a shame!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I still like the old paths the best!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
