This means same-sex couples will be able to get married in that state.

Consider what you read in this section because it is from the far-left extremist source, The Huffington Post…<\/strong>Scalia’s dissent is less a legal argument and more a plea for recognition that there are “good people on all sides.” In it, he repeatedly played the role of victim, complaining that it is unfair that his opposition to gay marriage is no longer considered legitimate.<\/p>\n

“It is one thing for a society to elect change; it is another for a court of law to impose change by adjudging those who oppose it hostes humani generis,<\/em> enemies of the human race,” Scalia wrote, accusing the majority of “declaring anyone opposed to same-sex marriage an enemy of human decency … In the majority\u2019s telling, this story is black-and-white: Hate your neighbor or come along with us.”<\/p>\n

“To hurl such accusations so casually demeans this institution,” said Scalia, before using his dissent to re-argue the legality of sodomy. Wednesday’s decision was inevitable, he said, when the court sanctioned “homosexual sodomy,” and striking down the Defense of Marriage Act will inevitably lead to fully legal same-sex marriages.<\/p>\n

“When the Court declared a constitutional right to homosexual sodomy, we were assured that the case had nothing, nothing at all to do with ‘whether the government must give formal recognition to any relationship that homosexual persons seek to enter,'” he wrote. “Now we are told that DOMA is invalid because it ‘demeans the couple, whose moral and sexual choices the Constitution protects,’ ante, at 23 — with an accompanying citation of Lawrence.<\/p>\n

“It takes real cheek for today\u2019s majority to assure us, as it is going out the door, that a constitutional requirement to give formal recognition to same-sex marriage is not at issue here \u2014 when what has preceded that assurance is a lecture on how superior the majority\u2019s moral judgment in favor of same-sex marriage is to the Congress\u2019s hateful moral judgment against it. I promise you this: The only thing that will ‘confine’ the Court\u2019s holding is its sense of what it can get away with.”<\/p>\n

Along with debating sodomy, Scalia drew a connection to polygamy, noting “the Constitution neither requires nor forbids our society to approve of same-sex marriage, much as it neither requires nor forbids us to approve of no-fault divorce, polygamy, or the consumption of alcohol.”<\/p>\n

Scalia argued that the question of same-sex marriage should be left to Congress and the states.<\/p>\n

“We might have let the People decide,” he said. “But that the majority will not do. Some will rejoice in today\u2019s decision, and some will despair at it; that is the nature of a controversy that matters so much to so many. But the Court has cheated both sides, robbing the winners of an honest victory, and the losers of the peace that comes from a fair defeat. We owed both of them better. I dissent.”<\/p>\n

The twin decisions did not address whether there is a fundamental right to same-sex marriage under the US Constitution. But the DOMA decision appears to have laid the legal groundwork for future cases challenging state laws banning same-sex marriages.<\/p>\n

As such, the court\u2019s actions represent clear and important victories for gay rights advocates in their fight for equal marital rights for gay men and lesbians. At the same time, the decisions represent a significant setback for those seeking to maintain the traditional definition of marriage as a union between one man and one woman.<\/p>\n

President Obama offered his personal congratulations via telephone from Air Force One to Chad Griffin, president of Human Rights Campaign.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re proud of you guys, and we\u2019re proud to have this in California,\u201d he told Mr. Griffin. \u201cAnd it’s because of your leadership things are heading in the right way. So you should be very proud today.\u201d<\/p>\n

House Speaker John Boehner, who intervened to defend DOMA when the Obama administration refused to do so, said he was disappointed in the ruling.<\/p>\n

\u00a0“Five justices just trampled on more than seven million California voters and the sacred institution of marriage,” said Janet Porter, president of Faith2Action, who was at the Supreme Court this morning filming with her crew for an upcoming documentary on marriage and the criminalization of Christianity. \u00a0“Today’s decision points to the need to make the case for marriage more than ever.”<\/p>\n

The Supreme Court today announced their decisions regarding two cases on marriage that were heard this spring. One involved California’s Marriage Amendment, approved by voters with Prop. 8 at the polls in 2008. The Court voted 5-4 in Hollingsworth v. Perry<\/em> that the supporters or proponents of the amendment did not have legal standing to defend it. (They had stepped in when state officials refused to legally defend it). This opens the door for same-sex “marriage” to be legalized in the state of California.\u00a0\u00a0 A quote from the dissent, written by Justice Kennedy, states that the Court “fails to grasp or accept” that “the right to make law rests in the people and flows to the government, not the other way around. Freedom resides first in the people without need of a grant from government.”<\/p>\n

The Supreme Court also declared the federal Defense of Marriage Act, approved by Congress and signed into law in 1996 by President Clinton, to be unconstitutional. The case, U.S. v. Windsor,<\/em> has been decided by a vote of 5-4 with Chief Justice Roberts and Justices Scalia, Thomas, and Alito as the dissenting votes.<\/p>\n

Roberts and Scalia rightly argue in dissenting that the Supreme Court did not have proper jurisdiction. In other words, they shouldn’t be making any decision about this law.\u00a0\u00a0 In his lengthy dissent, Scalia stated, “We have no power to decide this case. And, even if we did, we have no power under the Constitution to invalidate this democratically adopted legislation. The Court’s errors on both points spring forth from the same diseased root: an exalted conception of the role of this institution in America.”\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 -30-<\/p>\n

Also, recall this: It was Congress who originally passed DOMA and the President of the USA who then was Clinton signed DOMA into law in 1996. Al Gore was the President of the Senate that the Democrats controlled at that time. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Also, remember that at on at least 5 or 6 occasions Obama publicly proclaimed he was against gay marriage and affirmed that marriage was only between one man and one woman. It was only recently Obama flip-flopped on gay sodomite marriage. His flip-flop came about soon after the 2012 election was over and he was elected to his second term.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Get ready, my dear dedicated, Bible-believing Christians, the next time I go off line, it might be because I’m in jail for writing sodomites are going to hell if they don’t repent and should not be allowed to marry — because I will not deny that God has already ruled that marriage is between one man and one woman thousands of years ago.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Justice Scalia<\/strong> wrote that the five evil Majority Supremes purposely wrote their opinions, not based upon U.S. Law or the U.S. Constitution, but upon their own bigoted assessment that all who were\/are for DOMA being upheld are bigots who basically hate sodomites.\u00a0 Bottom line, they have declared real Christians all to be hate-filled bigots!\u00a0 This is dangerous!\u00a0 This will surely open up a can of worms for making it impossible for true Christians to preach God’s Word without risking getting arrested, sued, and who knows what else!\u00a0 Merely writing or proclaiming God’s Word against sodomite-gay marriage or speaking against sodomite sin could be a new reason to be tried for committing a hate crime!
