According to a friend of mine she wrote that she read that President Reagan lived only a few months in that apartment and did not remember living there, and added, “If Michael is not upset, I will wait and see. Calvin’s Commentary: This is disgraceful! Most ignoble on the part of all the Democrats who control everything that happens in Chicago (the city where this is happening). I seriously doubt if they would be building that parking lot if it were Clinton’s, Jimmy Carter’s, JFK’s or the #1 leading socialist, their patron saint, FDR’s childhood home. Why? I think it’s because communists know they MUST destroy all historical connections of a generation to brainwash them. And the commies in the USA’s government (just say Democrats) want to destroy our conservative past history. The University of Chicago Medical Center has announced plans to turn Ronald Reagan\u2019s childhood home in Chicago into a parking lot for President Barack Obama\u2019s library.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Commission on Chicago Landmarks previously denied the Gipper\u2019s home landmark status in 2012, according to\u00a0The Washington Times<\/a>, and the university subsequently scheduled demolition to begin in January. Officials claim the home does not reach landmark status because it is not architecturally significant and the nation\u2019s 40th president did nothing notable while living there.<\/p>\n

With the wrecking balls in place, it could be 90 days or less before the home is knocked down. In its place, a plaque would serve as the marker of the historic spot, according to university representatives.<\/p>\n

Reagan was 4 when his family moved to the 832 E. 57th St. home in the Hyde Park District of the Windy City.<\/p>\n
