Romney was able to spend some time visiting with Rev. Graham and his son Franklin at the evangelist\u2019s mountaintop home in North Carolina. <\/strong>Graham told Romney, \u201cI\u2019ll do all I can to help you,\u201d in the race for the White House. And Romney told the 93-year-old Graham, \u201cPrayer is the most helpful thing you can do for me.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

(CBN News) \u2013 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney took a moment from the heated campaign Thursday to seek a little spiritual support from Rev. Billy Graham.<\/p>\n

That moment came as President Barack Obama and Romney crisscrossed the country in the run-up to their next big debate on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Since the president\u2019s poor debate performance in Denver last week, his campaign has been in damage control mode, accusing Romney of changing his positions.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, in Florida, Obama accused the former governor of undergoing \u201can extreme makeover.\u201d<\/p>\n

Still, Romney is gaining ground in key swing states with polls showing him gaining among likely Colorado voters.<\/p>\n

In North Carolina, which Obama won four years ago, that battleground state is now trending Republican.<\/p>\n

At a campaign event there, Romney fired back again at the president for focusing on Big Bird when millions of Americans are out of work.<\/p>\n

\u201cMore people in poverty, one out of six Americans in poverty today, and against that kind of backdrop we have a president talking about saving Big Bird,\u201d Romney said. \u201cI think it\u2019s about time we have a president who will talk about saving the American family and I will.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was during that trip that Romney was able to spend some time visiting with Rev. Graham and his son Franklin at the evangelist\u2019s mountaintop home in North Carolina.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Graham told Romney, \u201cI\u2019ll do all I can to help you,\u201d in the race for the White House. And Romney told the 93-year-old Graham, \u201cPrayer is the most helpful thing you can do for me.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the first lady finished up a two-day campaign swing in Colorado. The president won Colorado in 2008 by a slim margin.<\/p>\n

Michelle Obama echoed previous comments from her husband about Americans succeeding only because they get help from other Americans.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe in an America where we all understand that none of us gets where we are on our own, none of us,\u201d she said. \u201cThat there are always a community of people lifting us up.\u201d<\/p>\n
