Today’s Washington Times<\/em> reports that more than $1 million of stimulus funds — that’s your hard-earned tax money, folks — was sent to an Internet company in London, England. Why? Supposedly to study “broadband speeds of various Internet service providers (ISPs).”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

How was sending money to a company in England going to create jobs in America? According to the <\/span><\/span>Times,<\/span><\/span><\/em> the company said it would “appoint U.S. partners” and that would create jobs here. Maybe there are no U.S. companies that study broadband speeds, but it seems doubtful to me.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But at least it helped to create some jobs, right? Nope. The <\/span><\/span>Times<\/span><\/span><\/em> reports that the government website monitoring the jobs stats from stimulus-funded projects lists “zero” jobs created from this $1 million investment.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Looking at the big picture, $1 million isn’t such a big deal. In 2010, <\/span><\/span>ABC News<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/em> reported that more than $1 billion of stimulus funds — your money — went to China!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
