Democrat Mary Gonzalez, rejects “lesbian, bi-sexual terms” – Declares herself to be a “Pansexual” – and that means she’ll have sex with any one or any thing. God just calls her an abomination and fornicator.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Democrat Mary Gonzalez was the first lesbian<\/a> to openly serve in the Texas House of Representatives, and now she\u2019s becoming the first \u201cpansexual,\u201d too.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring the campaign if I had identified as pansexual, I would have overwhelmed everyone\u2026Now that I\u2019m out of the campaign, I\u2019m completely much more able to define it,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

So what, exactly, is a \u201cpansexual\u201d?\u00a0 And how is it different from \u201cbisexual\u201d?<\/p>\n

The Huffington Post summarizes<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Though many might describe Gonzalez\u2019s orientation as bisexual, pansexuals don\u2019t believe in a \u201cgender binary,\u201d and hence can be attracted to all gender identities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gonzalez specified to the Voice<\/em> that she doesn\u2019t believe in a gender binary because \u201cgender identity isn\u2019t the defining part of my attraction,\u201d<\/strong> and that she never fully embraced the term \u201clesbian.\u201d Although she came out as bisexual at age 21, Gonzalez said she has also dated transgender and \u201cgender-queer\u201d people, in addition to women.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gonzalez\u2026 continued: \u201cAs I started to recognize the gender spectrum and dated along the gender spectrum, I was searching for words that connected to that reality, for words that embraced the spectrum. At the time I didn\u2019t feel as if the term bisexual was encompassing of a gender spectrum that I was dating and attracted to.<\/strong>\u201c\u00a0 [Emphasis added]<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As Gonzalez defines it, apparently a \u201cpansexual\u201d is attracted to men, women, men who identify as women, women who identify as men, and everything in between, because they don\u2019t recognize \u201cgender binaries.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a big victory for Mary, for El Paso and for Texas,\u201d said Chuck Wolfe, president and CEO of the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund reportedly said<\/a>.\u00a0 \u201cThe people of El Paso will be represented by a talented and committed fighter who knows how to get things done in Austin. And LGBT Texans will be represented by an authentic voice in the Capitol, standing up and speaking out for fairness and freedom for all.\u201d<\/p>\n

Denis Dison, a spokesperson for the Victory Fund, added<\/a> that there are several bisexual U.S. Representatives and they should \u201cinform the media and others about the term they prefer.\u201d<\/p>\n
