The Pentagon, often referred to as the Department of Defense, has violated God’s Immutable Laws against sodomy (fornication) that God calls an abomination. The U.S.A. will reap the anger of God for this transgression! Military chaplains may no longer pray in the Name of Jesus Christ or have Bibles in the middle east and we expect that God will bless this outright disregard for His Laws? The Pentagon<\/a> on Tuesday saluted open gays in the ranks, with a civilian lawyer calling on fellow homosexuals to \u201cstretch a little\u201d and become more visible inside the military in the drive for benefits for same-sex couples.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to be as visible as we can be,\u201d Gordon Tanner<\/a>, principal deputy general counsel of the Air Force<\/a>, said at the Defense Department<\/a>\u2019s first gay pride event. \u201cLet us be a bridge to our straight allies.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Pentagon<\/a> is not providing benefits to spouses of gay service members because federal law defines marriage as the union of one man and one woman.<\/p>\n

The Pentagon<\/a> chose Mr. Tanner<\/a> and two other gays \u2014 a Marine officer and a West Point graduate \u2014 to talk about the military during the ban on open gays, known as \u201cdon\u2019t ask, don\u2019t tell,\u201d and about the months since its official repeal on Sept. 20.<\/p>\n

\u201cI happen to be gay, but more importantly, I\u2019m a Marine,\u201d said Capt. Matthew Phelps<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Capt. Phelps<\/a> told of serving in Iraq<\/a> with heterosexual officers who would gather Saturday nights to smoke cigars and talk about family back home. He said he had to remain quiet in the back of the room.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy virtue of the fact that I wasn\u2019t allowed to say anything, I was actually growing more distant from my unit,\u201d he said. \u201cWe hear people talk about unit cohesion and how is the repeal of \u2018don\u2019t ask, don\u2019t tell\u2019 going to affect unit cohesion. I would argue it got better.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sue Fulton<\/a>, who is on the board of visitors at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., where she graduated in 1980, told a standing-room crowd in the Pentagon<\/a> auditorium that removing the ban is \u201cnot even a speed bump\u201d at the academy.<\/p>\n

The former Army officer is now communications director for OutServe, an organization of active duty and veteran gays with chapters at bases around the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an extraordinary and special day,\u201d Ms. Fulton<\/a> said. \u201cA lot of people seemed surprised that \u2018don\u2019t ask, don\u2019t tell\u2019 repeal went so smoothly.\u201d<\/p>\n

After recounting the closeted gays she met during her service, she said: \u201cSo many of us knew those gay and lesbian soldiers, and we knew at the end of the day this wouldn\u2019t be hard.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jeh Johnson, the department\u2019s general counsel, talked about the pre-repeal surveys and indoctrination during which some troops predicted open gays would lead to a loss of unit cohesion and morality.<\/p>\n

\u201cBased on our review, however, we conclude these concerns about gay and lesbian service members who are permitted to be open about their sexual orientation are exaggerated and not consistent with the reported experiences of many service members,\u201d he said. \u201cIn communications with gay and lesbian current and former service members we repeatedly heard a patriotic desire to serve and defend the nation subject to the same rules as everyone else.\u201d<\/p>\n

The celebration was broadcast on the Pentagon<\/a> cable channel with the title \u201cLGBT Pride Month Event.\u201d The initials stand for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender.<\/p>\n

The Pentagon<\/a> has no figures on the number of gays in the ranks and does not count them.<\/p>\n
