Maxine Waters challenges 'Tea Party' to fight... <\/a><\/strong><\/tt><\/h1>\n

California Congresswoman Maxine Waters told Denver Democrats tonight that Republicans are waging a war on women on issues ranging from health care to wage disparity.<\/p>\n

During her speech at the 5th annual House District 7 Unity Dinner, she accused Republicans of attacking President Obama<\/a> any chance they get.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe cannot allow the opportunities that America stands for to be eroded by those who simply want to bring this president down,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She was cheered when she said, \u201cAfter a good night sleep, I wake up the next day, and I say, \u2018Come on, Tea Party, let\u2019s get it on.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Waters also ripped the Tea Party when talking about \u201cObamacare.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

Among those present at the dinner: Congresswoman Diana DeGette; Denver City Councilwomen Robin Kniech and Mary Beth Susman<\/a>; state Rep. Angela Williams<\/a> and Sen. Mike Johnston, who represent House District 7; and Sen. Pat Steadman and House Minority Leader Mark Ferrandino.<\/p>\n

Republicans criticized Democrats for inviting a congresswoman facing ethics charges<\/a>. Waters said she was there at the invitation of Williams and \u201cthat\u2019s that.\u201d<\/p>\n
