Although I’m not into horse racing, every year we watch the Kentucky Derby, Preakness, and Belmont.\u00a0 It is just a huge part of Americana!\u00a0 —\u00a0 (NASCAR is our thing and 99% of the time, they pray in the Name of Jesus!\u00a0 Always a thrill for me to hear.)<\/em><\/p>\n

Nevertheless, I love animals.\u00a0 Horses are just so kind looking, so svelte, muscular, well toned, with a sleekness which is most pleasant to the eye — plus they have the most fetching faces.\u00a0 Their personalities, well, they are perky and who doesn’t like perky!\u00a0 Who couldn’t just love those little snorts they make as they toss their head over to the side.\u00a0 Awwwwww.<\/p>\n

Who couldn’t appreciate a horse prancing in a parade?\u00a0 Walking sideways.\u00a0 All the typical things we recall in our minds’ eye remembering a horse.<\/p>\n

What more stress-reducing pastoral picture in one’s mind than viewing horses gently grazing in a field with a white fence enclosing them?<\/p>\n

What more exciting picture of complete freedom than picturing in the mind a wild herd of horses charging forward through the land, dust flying about. Who wouldn’t want to be among them?<\/p>\n

What child hasn’t pictured himself on a horse saving the world from a threat?<\/p>\n

Who couldn’t love a horse? After all, God created them!<\/p>\n

Obviously God loves horses!\u00a0 The Bible tells us that Our Lord Jesus Christ will return to this final earthly battle as the Conquering King on a White Horse!\u00a0 [Revelation 19]<\/strong><\/p>\n

[Genesis 1:24-25].\u00a0<\/strong> However, man is above the animals and man has dominion over them. [Genesis 1:26].<\/strong><\/p>\n

Adam, in the Garden was given the responsibility to name every animal. [Genesis 2:20]<\/strong> And to care for them.<\/p>\n

I am very sorry to hear about I’ll Have Another’s<\/strong> tendinitis.<\/p>\n

Oh, I know from my own personal experience just how painful and crippling tendinitis is.\u00a0 It will put you completely out of commission.<\/p>\n

We, like most of the rest of novices and long-term experts about horse racing were likely all cheering for I’ll Have Another<\/strong> to take the Triple Crown.<\/p>\n

A Little Background on I’ll Have Another<\/strong><\/p>\n

I’ll Have Another<\/strong> (foaled April 1, 2009) is a North American Thoroughbred<\/a> race horse, bred in Kentucky<\/a>, owned by Canadian businessman J. Paul Reddam<\/a> and trained by Doug O’Neill<\/a>.[2]<\/a><\/sup> In May 2012, ridden by Mario Gutierrez<\/a>, he won the first two legs of the Triple Crown<\/a> by taking the Kentucky Derby<\/a> with a time of 2:01.83.[3]<\/a><\/sup> and the Preakness Stakes<\/a> in 1:55.94. I’ll Have Another<\/strong> is a chestnut<\/a> horse sired by the Travers Stakes<\/a> winner Flower Alley<\/a>. Flower Alley’s sire, Distorted Humor, was also the sire of 2003 Kentucky Derby winner Funny Cide<\/a>. In September 2010, as a yearling, I’ll Have Another<\/strong> was sent to the Keeneland<\/a> sales where he was bought for $11,000 by Victor M. Davila.[4]<\/a><\/sup> Davila, an exercise rider, broke and trained the colt before sellling him as a two-year-old to J. Paul Reddam<\/a> for $35,000 at the Ocala Breeder’s sale.[5]<\/a><\/sup> The colt’s name was inspired by Reddam’s reply when his “wife asks him if he wants more of her fresh-baked cookies, “It just seems like a perfect name!” he later said.”[6]<\/a><\/sup> (Wikipedia)<\/p>\n

I’ll Have Another Horse racing was dealt a devastating blow on Friday morning. Trainer Doug O’Neill confirmed that his horse, I’ll Have Another, won’t run in the Belmont Stakes on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n

O’Neill confirmed that news on The Dan Patrick Show. O’Neill cited injury as the reason the horse won’t run in the race.<\/p>\n

“It’s his left front leg,” O’Neill told the show.<\/p>\n

“This morning, he looked perfect. I took him and did a little something with him and after training, the swelling came back.”<\/p>\n

O’Neill also said that the horse looked like it was suffering from tendinitis. I’ll Have Another was looking to win the first Triple Crown since Affirmed took home all three of horse racing’s biggest races in 1978.<\/p>\n

“We ain’t taking any chances,” he said.<\/p>\n

“There are people who are going to want to slap me around, but I have to do what’s best for the horse.” O’Neill also told the show that he doesn’t see I’ll Have Another racing again. The horse improbably won the Kentucky Derby, entering the race at 15-to-1 odds.<\/p>\n

I’ll Have Another then captured the imagination of horse racing fans by winning the Preakness last month.<\/p>\n
