It was originally recorded by <a title=\"Gertrude Niesen\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gertrude_Niesen\">Gertrude Niesen<\/a>, on October 13, 1933, on the Victor label 24454. Possibly the most famous version was recorded in 1958 by the <a title=\"Doo wop\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Doo_wop\">doo wop<\/a> group <a title=\"The Platters\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Platters\">The Platters<\/a>, which became a number one hit on the U.S. <a title=\"Billboard Hot 100\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Billboard_Hot_100\">Billboard Hot 100<\/a> \u2014 it reached number three on the R&amp;B charts in 1959<sup><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Smoke_Gets_in_Your_Eyes#cite_note-0\">[1]<\/a><\/sup> \u2014\u00a0(Wikipedia*)<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Smoke Gets in Your Eyes&#8221; came from an era long before &#8220;N&#8221; music consisted of nothing more than hate-filled, non-lyrical-noisy-rap-crap praising guns to murder and black females are nothing but ho&#8217;s to be exploited, used and abused, by black males while the &#8220;N&#8221; word is repeated over and over ad nauseum, but it&#8217;s okay because the drug-filled rappers pronounce it, &#8220;nig&#8217;ra&#8221;. (But if you&#8217;re white, don&#8217;t say anything but the &#8220;N&#8221; word and hang your head slightly when saying it.)<\/p>\n<p>Alas, here are the stirring and haunting words of &#8220;Smoke Gets in Your Eyes.&#8221;
