Former NAACP leader C.L. Bryant is accusing Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton of \u201cexploiting\u201d the Trayvon Martin tragedy to \u201cracially divide this country.\u201d<\/h1>\n

\u201cHis family should be outraged at the fact that they\u2019re using this child as the bait to inflame racial passions,\u201d Rev. C.L. Bryant said in a Monday interview with The Daily Caller.<\/p>\n

The conservative black pastor who was once the chapter president of the Garland, Texas NAACP called Jackson and Sharpton \u201crace hustlers\u201d and said they are \u201cacting as though they are buzzards circling the carcass of this young boy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jackson, for example, recently said Martin\u2019s death shows how \u201cblacks are under attack\u201d and \u201ctargeting, arresting, convicting blacks and ultimately killing us is big business.\u201d \u00a0(SEE ALSO: Jesse Jackson says Trayvon Martin \u2018murdered and martyred\u2019)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch captain, killed Martin, a 17-year-old black man who was unarmed at the time of his death, last month. Zimmerman has claimed to have shot Martin in self-defense and has not been charged with a crime.<\/p>\n

But Bryant, who explores the topic of black-on-black crime in his new film \u201cRunaway Slave,\u201d said people like Jackson and Sharpton are being misleading to suggest there is an epidemic of \u201cwhite men killing black young men.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe epidemic is truly black on black crime,\u201d Bryant said. \u201cThe greatest danger to the lives of young black men are young black men.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bryant said he wishes civil rights leaders were protesting those problems.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy not be angry about the wholesale murder that goes on in the streets of Newark and Chicago?\u201d he asked. \u201cWhy isn\u2019t somebody angry about that six-year-old girl who was killed on her steps last weekend in a cross fire when two gang members in Chicago start shooting at each other? Why is there no outrage about that?\u201d<\/p>\n

Bryant said he worries that \u201cpeople like Sharpton and those on the left\u201d will make Martin\u2019s death a campaign issue in the presidential race.<\/p>\n

He speculated that they will \u201cturn this evolving tragedy of this young man into fodder to say\u2026 if you don\u2019t re-elect Obama then you will have unbridled events or circumstances like this happening in the streets to young men wearing hoodies.\u201d (RELATED: Herman Cain criticizes \u2018swirling rhetoric\u2019 after Martin shooting)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

He also criticized President Obama for his \u201cnebulous statement\u201d responding to Martin\u2019s death that \u201cif I had a son, he\u2019d look like Trayvon.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat does that mean?\u201d Bryant asked. \u201cWhat was the purpose in that?\u201d<\/p>\n
