ABOUT GROWING OLDER…<\/strong><\/p>\n

First ~ Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and\u00a0start bragging about it.<\/p>\n

Second ~ The older we get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.<\/p>\n

Third ~ Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me; I want people to\u00a0know ‘why’ I look this way. I’ve traveled a long way, and some of the roads\u00a0weren’t paved.<\/p>\n

Fourth ~ When you are dissatisfied and would like to go back to youth, think of\u00a0Algebra.<\/p>\n

Fifth ~ You know you are getting old when everything either dries up or leaks.<\/p>\n

Watchwoman<\/strong><\/span>: My dad loved and enjoyed Will Rogers in his lifetime. \u00a0Some young people may not know about him, so I’m incluidng a little bio from Wikipedia. \u25ac\u00a0\u00a0Donna Calvin<\/strong><\/p>\n

[Wikipedia]<\/em>\u00a0Will Rogers<\/strong>\u00a0(November 4, 1879 \u2013 August 15, 1935) was an American cowboy, vaudeville performer, humorist, social commentator and motion picture actor. He was one of the world’s best-known celebrities in the 1920s and 1930s.<\/p>\n

Known as\u00a0Oklahoma<\/a>‘s favorite son,[1]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0Rogers was born to a prominent\u00a0Cherokee Nation<\/a>\u00a0family in\u00a0Indian Territory<\/a>\u00a0(now part of\u00a0Oklahoma<\/a>). He traveled around the world three times, made 71\u00a0movies<\/a>\u00a0(50\u00a0silent films<\/a>\u00a0and 21 “talkies<\/a>“),[2]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0wrote more than 4,000\u00a0nationally-syndicated<\/a>\u00a0newspaper columns,[3]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0and became a world-famous figure. By the mid-1930s, Rogers was adored by the American people. He was the leading political wit of the\u00a0Progressive Era<\/a>, and was the top-paid\u00a0Hollywood movie star<\/a>\u00a0at the time. Rogers died in 1935 with aviator\u00a0Wiley Post<\/a>, when their small airplane crashed in Alaska.<\/p>\n

His vaudeville rope act led to success in the Ziegfeld Follies, which in turn led to the first of his many movie contracts. His 1920s syndicated newspaper column and his radio appearances increased his visibility and popularity. Rogers crusaded for aviation expansion, and provided Americans with first-hand accounts of his world travels. His earthy anecdotes and folksy style allowed him to poke fun at gangsters, prohibition, politicians, government programs, and a host of other controversial topics in a way that was readily appreciated by a national audience, with no one offended. His aphorisms, couched in humorous terms, were widely quoted: “I am not a member of an organized political party. I am a Democrat.”<\/p>\n

Rogers even provided an epigram on his most famous epigram:<\/p>\n
