Several months ago, we had a discussion on the blog about a case in the Diocese of Rockford<\/a> involving a priest, 2 female teenage accusers, and the Diocesan refusal to turn over the priest’s files to the law. At that point the priest had plead not guilty to charges.<\/p>\n

Well, yesterday, he changed his tune<\/a><\/p>\n

A former Catholic priest scheduled to stand trial later this month abruptly pleaded guilty to sexually abusing two teenage girls and was sentenced Thursday to eight years in prison.<\/p>\n

But the surprise guilty pleas by 39-year-old Mark A. Campobello don’t end his legal battle. Kane County prosecutors say they still want an appeals court to rule on whether the Catholic Diocese of Rockford must turn over its records on Campobello.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
