Amy, this past weekend, I had to operate on your brother, Fred Fern Welborn. His vascular system (roots) was seriously compromised. My intention was to surgically free the arteries and veins and to do a major transplant. There was too much that I could not save, but there was a bit that survived surgery. He was in intensive care over the weekend. Then today I found a very good Boston fern match and did a transplant this afternoon. So far, so good. What remains of Fred’s system seems to be melding with the fresh material. For a 35 year old, Fred is doing quite well. Prospects for recovery are good, so do not despair.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Yes, my most vivid memory of our move from Kansas to Tennessee back in 1973 was everyone’s concern over the fern, which made the ride in the trunk. Would it make it?
