Blogger Steve Skojec looks at Rick Santorum’s explanation of his support for Specter that’s in the new Crisis.<\/a><\/p>\n

I’ll give Santorum some points for at least being accountable enough to offer an explanation to the legions of American Catholics who have, up until now, viewed him as a ray of hope for our secularistic democracy. But his explanations are meager, and his logic doesn’t hold water. If Specter was his only choice, I could understand his points. But when there is an electable, pro-life, conservative underdog fighting to bring moral values to his State and his Nation, why wouldn’t another electable, pro-life, conservative underdog support him? There are higher loyalties than political ones.<\/p>\n

What Santorum has done, on a political level, is shown us that he’s willing to throw his ideals under the bus to get an outside shot at holding on to a slim majority in a nearly ineffectual (at least from a conservative point of view) Republican Senate. In my book, that’s just morally unacceptable. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

Amy has five children, ranging in age from 26 to 4 and was married to Michael Dubruiel, who died unexpectedly in February 2009.
