(This is our parish and our neighborhood Catholic school. They don’t have a pre-school, though, so last year he went to another Catholic school a little ways away for that.) I did forget his snack though, so I just hope that doesn’t produce any kind of meltdown (last year, you had to bring snack for the whole class for a week ever three months or so. This place, you have to bring a snack for your own child every day. Old habits die hard.) – I told the teacher and she waved me away – no problem.

I stayed long enough to watch them during prayer – after the pastor had told the school all about St. Augustine over the intercom, he led them in prayer and the teacher instructed the children to face the crucifix and make the sign of the cross, which about half of them knew how to do (Joseph mostly, although most of the time he’s Orthodox in his stylings and usually forgets his chest.).

Any first day stories from you all?

Oh, and my high school freshman is surviving the big public high school just fine. On her first day she met a girl who’d been on her serving team at church and had attended the public middle school, and they’ve become fast friends, and she’s made others as well, and seems to like her classes fine – she went to the debate team meeting last week and was thoroughly intimidated, but will try speech team (more her style) this week and audition for the fall play (Into the Woods). She’s realistic, hoping to be cast as a tree. (I don’t know if Into the Woods has parts for trees.
