Well, not just the "gospel," for Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh is mentioned – although I will say that my impression of Rajneesh was never that he taught that his followers<\/em> would be rich..he <\/em>was. But I could be wrong.<\/p>\n

The photoessay is nothing great – only 8 photos and captions, and leaves out some sterling examples from the present day – Creflo Dollar<\/a>, for one, as well as any number of non-US prosperity preachers – say, Pastor Sunday Adelaja, the Nigerian preacher who has built an enormous church kingdom in the Ukraine.<\/a>  Someone who really knew what they were doing would recognize the power and popularity of prosperity gospel preaching in Africa and Latin America, and noted that, and then asked Philip Jenkins what that’s all about. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
