{"id":5845,"date":"2006-09-15T11:42:31","date_gmt":"2006-09-15T11:42:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/viamedia\/2006\/09\/witness-to-the-sorrow.html"},"modified":"2006-09-15T11:42:31","modified_gmt":"2006-09-15T11:42:31","slug":"witness-to-the-sorrow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/viamedia\/2006\/09\/witness-to-the-sorrow.html","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Witness to the Sorrow&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As blogged here a few days ago, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia will be the site of an event in which victims of clerical sexual abuse will speak of their experiences to priests and others. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.archdiocese-phl.org\/\">There is more about the event here, and it will evidently be available for viewing on livestream video &#8211; the event will take place from 4-6 Eastern time.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.archdiocese-phl.org\/press%20releases\/pr001135.htm\">Today is, of course, Our Lady of Sorrows:<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>On the Feast of Our Mother of Sorrows, Cardinal Justin Rigali, Archbishop of Philadelphia,<\/strong> has invited the priests of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia to join him and the Auxiliary Bishops to hear accounts from victims of clergy sexual abuse. When Cardinal Rigali asked the priests to join him he said that one of the most significant things he has learned in the past year is the importance of listening to victims who are able to convey the hurt, pain and suffering which is still part of daily life for many of them. <\/p>\n<p>The event will be two-fold. It will begin with the witnessing, which will take place in the auditorium of Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary in Wynnewood. Two victims of clergy sexual abuse, and one parent of abuse victims, are scheduled to speak to the clergy. Amy has five children, ranging in age from 26 to 4 and was married to Michael Dubruiel, who died unexpectedly in February 2009.
