The manner in which he prayed the Eucharistic Prayer &#8211; perhaps it&#8217;s partly a function of his age and fatigue, but I&#8217;m thinking it&#8217;s also an expression of his convictions about who he is at that moment.<br \/>\nNo showboating here.<br \/>\nAnd then, his words, off-the-cuff, at the end of Mass. Remember &#8211; this is the anniversary of his election &#8211; in which he spoke of himself as the &#8220;poor successor of St. Peter&#8221; &#8211; and of flaws, sins and spiritual poorness (or as he said, &#8220;poorness..spiritual..), asked for prayers, and expressed his gratitude by giving the best that he has &#8211; his blessing..&#8221;at ze end of\u00a0ze Holy Mass.&#8221;<br \/>\n<em>Neither silver nor gold&#8230;<\/em><br \/>\n<em><\/em><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/wdtprs.com\/blog\/2008\/04\/what-the-holy-father-said-at-the-end-of-mass-at-st-patricks\/\" target=\"_blank\">Fr. Amy has written columns for Our Sunday Visitor and Catholic News Service at times over the past twenty years. Amy has five children, ranging in age from 26 to 4 and was married to Michael Dubruiel, who died unexpectedly in February 2009.
