With commentary and photo of Cardinal O&#8217;Malley&#8217;s trip to San Giovanni Rotondo for the memorial of San Padre Pio&nbsp; and his jaunts around Rome yesterday, <\/a>which included a visit to the Gesu church (the primary Jesuit church in Rome) and offering Mass at \u201cChiesa Nuova,\u201d which is the church of the Fathers of the Oratory of Saint Philip Neri:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img244.imageshack.us\/img244\/9895\/sayingmassinthesaintphilipchapel2xa2.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/> <\/p>\n<p>(For some reason, when I saved this photo to my own image hosting service, it cut off the bottom &#8211; go to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cardinalseansblog.org\/\">the original and you&#8217;ll see St. Philip Neri&#8217;s body in the foreground)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>And&#8230;they&#8217;ve added comments&#8230;I hope they&#8217;re moderated! <\/p>\n<p>This is nifty. I don&#8217;t know if a Blogging Ordinary would work on a daily basis, what with the time factor and all, but as a report of his trip to Rome, I think it&#8217;s a marvelous idea. <\/p>\n<p>(And to the argument that bishops should be too busy to blog&#8230;well, the point is not &quot;blogging&quot; per se. The point is being in communication with and teaching the people of the diocese. Bishops write newspaper columns and homilies (and books, some of them) &#8211; this is surely not for everyone, and you need a staff member who knows his or her internet stuff and can make it as painless as possible, it could be a valuable means of catechesis. <\/p>\n<p>And&#8230;if it becomes a two-way street, who knows what could happen?)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230;the blog continues.
