As it approaches its 30th anniversary next year, the parish of more than 1,100 families is preparing to leave its longtime home on Jamestowne Boulevard for a $7.4 million, 17,000-square-foot facility next to its school on St. John Court.<\/p>\n

The Romanesque-style building, which will seat 907 and include a day chapel and an adoration chapel, will be modeled after churches of the Burgundy region in France. The church, expected to be completed by January 2008, will be built with Texas limestone and have a cruciform design. The roof will include a dome over the \u201ccrossing,\u201d where the transept intersects the nave.<\/p>\n

\u201cA church is to inspire,\u201d said Bishop Joseph E. Kurtz in his comments at the groundbreaking. \u201cWhen we walk into a church, the Lord wants us to have our spirits lifted up.
