Pryor, Jr., entitled &quot;Misjudging Hugo Black: Pryor restraint needed.&quot; But before I begin my point-by-point rejoinder, allow me to provide some background information that will help place Suitts&#8217;s piece in its proper context.<\/p>\n<p>On the evening of August 11, 1921, Edwin Stephenson, a Methodist minister, shot and killed <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/James_Coyle\"><span style=\"color: #990000\">Father James Coyle<\/span><\/a>, a Catholic priest, for marrying his daughter to a Puerto Rican that Stephenson believed was a &quot;ni**er.&quot; Stephenson was also apparently upset with Father Coyle for playing a significant role in his daughter&#8217;s decision to convert to Catholicism.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"http:\/\/southernappeal.blogspot.com\/2005\/07\/whitewashing-racistanti-catholic.html\">Oh, and you&#8217;re not going to read the rest of this one?
