As I noted before (see post below<\/a>), there are plenty of opportunities for almsgiving during Lent, arond the world and in our own communities.\u00a0 See also this post from the old blog, in which some excellent grassroots organizations are listed. <\/a>
\nHere’s another one: those of you with some spare change or even a widow’s mite, who have an interest in and commitment to the cause of sacred music in Catholic liturgy might consider helping out the Church Music Association of America, in serious needs of scholarship funds for participants in this summer’s Sacred Music Colloquium in Chicago.<\/a> Church musicians are not, particularly in the Catholic Church, at the top of the pay grade generally, and most of them work for next to nothing. If not nothing. I’m sure\u00a0learning that has left you shocked and stunned.\u00a0\u00a0 Supporting them in their commitment to bringing the treasure of Catholic sacred music back into parish life would be a wonderful thing to do, I’m thinking, and a gift that will benefit not only the individuals involved, but also the people in the parishes whom they serve. That’s a lot of people.

Amy has five children, ranging in age from 26 to 4 and was married to Michael Dubruiel, who died unexpectedly in February 2009.
