Let&#8217;s pray that someone figures out what the cause in the rise of anti-Semitism in Europe is tied to:<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span>Halimi was kidnapped and held for three weeks while his captors, led by a Muslim immigrant from Ivory Coast, demanded a ransom from his family. He was found naked and covered with cigarette burns near a suburban train station outside Paris on Feb. 13. He died on his way to the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>The police initially dismissed charges by Halima&#8217;s family and Jewish groups that anti-Semitism had contributed to the crime, even after one of the suspects told investigators last week that Halimi had been a target because he was Jewish. The authorities changed their position after another suspect said Saturday that Halimi had been burned on his forehead with a cigarette because of his religion.<\/p>\n<p>The government has struggled to strike a balance between suppressing anti-Semitism among the country&#8217;s large Muslim population and addressing rising anti-Islamic sentiments in the broader population.<\/p>\n<p>The Jewish community again criticized the police and the media for playing down the anti-Semitic aspect.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Let&#8217;s pray not.
