Top o’ the list for us was, THE PACKET – Katie’s school info packet, pickup for which was last week. Thanks to email she already knew the most important information – whose class am I in? Are my friends in my class? but was still anxious for her school supply list, and so on.

The new twist this year is that this will be the year that Joseph Goes to School. My initial hope was that he’d get into the public Montessori school which his baby sitter’s daughter’s attended, but evidently that’s not going to happen – he was sixth on the waiting list, and that was just out of the loop.

HOWEVER, things will work out much better, as they often do. I fretted about where to send him (and yes this child was going somewhere. If you want to know why, I’ll give you my dad’s email, and he can report on the weekend.) – our Catholic school doesn’t have preschool, the Lutheran school down the road does, but I knew nothing about it. There’s a well-regarded Catholic preschool in town, but not exactly nearby. (With Katie’s school being half a mile away, I’m spoiled.)

Well, I finally decided to go ahead with Precious Blood, missed bring-in-your-registration day last week, so we went over there today and discovered, not only a fantastic, roomy, stimulating preschool classroom, but also that they do Catechesis of the Good Shepherd! I had no idea, and am just so pleased – she (the secretary) showed me the special room (the "atrium") where they’ve got all the materials set up, and spoke about how much her own son had gotten out of it. I remarked that they really should advertise that fact – it’s a real selling point. Ruefully, she nodded. Marketing problems impact everyone!

So, we’re all excited, backpack and lunchbox have been purchased, as well as two boxes of tissues – one for his classroom, and one just for me. I think I’m going to need it. #4 going on this road, and yes, I’m going to need it.

When you’re gone for almost a week, there’s a lot of work awaiting upon your return.
