I have to say, this is sort of weird to me, because I sort of vaguely knew him &#8211; in college. I guess he was a year ahead of me at KCHS, but I don&#8217;t remember him from that context. He is, of course, well-known in the\u00a0Diocese of Knoxville\u00a0as a priest and as Chancellor and moderator of the curia.\u00a0 Fr.\u00a0Vann Johnston of the Diocese of Knoxville is the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/212.77.1.245\/news_services\/bulletin\/news\/21545.php?index=21545&amp;lang=en\">new bishop of Springfield-Cape Girardeau. <\/a>Ordination scheduled for March 31.\u00a0 There will be a press conference from Knoxville at 3:30 today with more details and, we might assume, some words from Msgr. Johnston.<br \/>\n<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/212.77.1.245\/news_services\/press\/vis\/dinamiche\/d4_en.htm\">(English, from VIS<\/a>)<br \/>\nCongratulations!<br \/>\n(And note the age, even though having contemporaries made bishops makes me feel old, in\u00a0bishop years this is another young one &#8211; 48. )<br \/>\n<u>The appointment<\/u> actually raises an interesting question, one bounced about on Catholic blogs (as well as in less ephemeral contexts) regarding bishops coming from outside or within the diocese they serve (and I&#8217;ve always seen advantages to both, frankly, depending on the person and the state of the diocese in question).<br \/>\n<em>Knoxville is open<\/em>. Amy has five children, ranging in age from 26 to 4 and was married to Michael Dubruiel, who died unexpectedly in February 2009.
