Of Al Smith\u2019s run in 1928? Of John F. Kennedy\u2019s election in 1960? <\/p>\n<p>Apparently not, for on Sunday the <em>Times<\/em> carried a long, glowing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2006\/03\/19\/books\/review\/19brink.html?pagewanted=print\"><u><span style=\"color: #660000\">review<\/span><\/u><\/a> of Kevin Phillips\u2019 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/redirect?link_code=ur2&amp;tag=firstthings-20&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;path=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fgp%2Fproduct%2F067003486X%2Fqid%3D1142954055%2Fsr%3D2-1%2Fref%3Dpd_bbs_b_2_1%3Fs%3Dbooks%26v%3Dglance%26n%3D283155\"><u><span style=\"color: #660000\">American Theocracy<\/span><\/u><\/a><span style=\"color: #660000\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=firstthings-20&amp;l=ur2&amp;o=1\" width=\"1\" border=\"0\" \/><\/span>, the latest entry in the ongoing series of America-Is-Becoming-a-Religious-Dictatorship books. The review is like a parade of those who should know history better than this: if not the editors of the <em>New York Times<\/em>, then surely Kevin Phillips, who once wrote a very important political analysis called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/redirect?link_code=ur2&amp;tag=firstthings-20&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;path=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fgp%2Fproduct%2F0870000586%2Fqid%3D1142954178%2Fsr%3D1-1%2Fref%3Dsr_1_1%3Fs%3Dbooks%26v%3Dglance%26n%3D283155\"><u><span style=\"color: #660000\">The Emerging Republican Majority<\/span><\/u><\/a><span style=\"color: #660000\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=firstthings-20&amp;l=ur2&amp;o=1\" width=\"1\" border=\"0\" \/><\/span>, and if not Phillips, then at least the reviewer, Alan Brinkley, who is a senior professor of history and provost at Columbia University.<\/p>\n<p>But no. Amy has five children, ranging in age from 26 to 4 and was married to Michael Dubruiel, who died unexpectedly in February 2009.
